ACTIVITIES, FOOD, DECORATIONS, GIFTS...
There are a lot of decisions to be made around the Christmas holidays! Hopefully we can give you a few ideas to help out!
Thankfully we've got lots of things that can fit multiple categories!
As a gift: perfect! To serve as as a treat: delicious!
The giving of chocolate letters has been a tradition in many Dutch households! The kids love getting involved in handing out the letters to the proper recipients.
Available in milk or dark chocolate and in two sizes: DeHeer 65g and Droste 135g.
ACTIVITIES AND DECORATION
Another dual purpose idea!
Speculaas cookies are crispy spiced cookies that every Dutch person is familiar with. In lieu of gingerbread houses we opted to make speculaas canal houses. You can use the regular sized cookies or the "speculaas broken" as a larger version.
Mix some icing sugar with a hint of water or milk to create the icing and start decorating!
Another gingerbread house substitute: a sproopwafel house!
Measure, cut, assemble with icing and decorate!
Get creative with shapes, patterns, and candies\dropjes!
A VERY "GOUDA" CHEESE BALL!
Add some colour to your table with this festive cheese ball.
1pk cream cheese
1 cup aged Gouda, shredded
1 small green onion
1 cup dried cranberries
1 tsp lemon juice
fresh rosemary, finely chopped
salt & pepper
Mix room temperature cream cheese with all ingredients, reserving some of the cranberries and rosemary to coat.
Just shape, coat and chill for 2 hours or until firm.
Serve with crackers, breadsticks, wine, and good company!
Hopefully we have gotten you excited! Which ones will you try this year?
